Dr. Rick Warren Makes a Statement

Dr. Rick Warren recently made this statement discussing Governor Huckabee on a radio program:

“I know most of the candidates running for president but I’ve known Mike Huckabee the longest, since we did our graduate degrees together in the late 70s. Mike’s a man of vision, compassion, and integrity. I’ve watched his uncanny ability to identify with normal people in ways that many leaders don’t. That’s probably why TIME named him one of the five best governors in America. He’s definitely presidential material. But honestly, what I find most appealing is his self-deprecating humor. That’s a key sign of a spiritually and emotionally healthy leader - someone who is comfortable with himself, is authentic, doesn’t wear a mask, and is secure enough to be humble. People love that.”

The Flywheel is in Motion

I saw this morning that Huckabee is now tied with McCain for third nationally. He is still behind Rudy and the other tall actor guy that steals Mike's position on issues whenever it's convenient for him. (drives me crazy).

The money is starting to flow better than ever...he picked up close to a million so far in the past few weeks and is planning on investing some in a commercial spot in Iowa. Smart spend here, because by investing in Iowa and winning there quickly translates into millions of free advertising as the press will be all over him. Speaking of press, check his web site for his agenda this week. It is slammed with some great stuff including Good Morning America, MSNBC's The Situation Room, Fox and Friends, The O'Reilly Factor, PBS's Charlie Rose show etc......

It is up to us to continue the momentum and push that flywheel.

Dobson - What is his deal?

The potential irony in all of this for James Dobson and Evangelical Christians is that by absenting themselves from active support for whomever the next GOP nominee may be, it would in fact be they themselves who have effectively sealed Roe v. Wade into American law forever. He and Perkins need to get in the game and throw their support to someone, hopefully Huckabee, if we are gonna prevent her thighness from getting into the White House.

Huckabee Flys by Romney in the Polls

More good news on the polling front. Gov. Huckabee passed Gov. Romney today in the Rasmussen Reports Daily Tracking.

Rudy Giuliani remains precariously atop the pack with support from 20% of Likely Republican Primary Voters nationwide. Fred Thompson is close behind at 19% while John McCain enjoys a second straight day in third place with 14% of the vote. Huckabee continues to gain ground and is just two points behind McCain at 12%. This is the first time all year that Huckabee has surpassed Mitt Romney. The former Massachusetts Governor slipped another point and he is now at just 11% nationally.

Latest National Poll - Huckabee Moves Up (again)

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows a very tight race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. Rudy Giuliani is now supported by 21% while Fred Thompson is the top choice for 19%. Seventeen percent (17%) are undecided while McCain moves into third place among the candidates with at 14% of the vote. Mitt Romney’s support is back down to 12%, Mike Huckabee reaches double digits for the first time at 10%, and Ron Paul earns the vote from 3%. The more you look at the numbers, the more you realize how wide open the race has become.
