The Flywheel is in Motion

I saw this morning that Huckabee is now tied with McCain for third nationally. He is still behind Rudy and the other tall actor guy that steals Mike's position on issues whenever it's convenient for him. (drives me crazy).

The money is starting to flow better than ever...he picked up close to a million so far in the past few weeks and is planning on investing some in a commercial spot in Iowa. Smart spend here, because by investing in Iowa and winning there quickly translates into millions of free advertising as the press will be all over him. Speaking of press, check his web site for his agenda this week. It is slammed with some great stuff including Good Morning America, MSNBC's The Situation Room, Fox and Friends, The O'Reilly Factor, PBS's Charlie Rose show etc......

It is up to us to continue the momentum and push that flywheel.

Dobson - What is his deal?

The potential irony in all of this for James Dobson and Evangelical Christians is that by absenting themselves from active support for whomever the next GOP nominee may be, it would in fact be they themselves who have effectively sealed Roe v. Wade into American law forever. He and Perkins need to get in the game and throw their support to someone, hopefully Huckabee, if we are gonna prevent her thighness from getting into the White House.

Huckabee Flys by Romney in the Polls

More good news on the polling front. Gov. Huckabee passed Gov. Romney today in the Rasmussen Reports Daily Tracking.

Rudy Giuliani remains precariously atop the pack with support from 20% of Likely Republican Primary Voters nationwide. Fred Thompson is close behind at 19% while John McCain enjoys a second straight day in third place with 14% of the vote. Huckabee continues to gain ground and is just two points behind McCain at 12%. This is the first time all year that Huckabee has surpassed Mitt Romney. The former Massachusetts Governor slipped another point and he is now at just 11% nationally.

Latest National Poll - Huckabee Moves Up (again)

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows a very tight race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. Rudy Giuliani is now supported by 21% while Fred Thompson is the top choice for 19%. Seventeen percent (17%) are undecided while McCain moves into third place among the candidates with at 14% of the vote. Mitt Romney’s support is back down to 12%, Mike Huckabee reaches double digits for the first time at 10%, and Ron Paul earns the vote from 3%. The more you look at the numbers, the more you realize how wide open the race has become.

About Hillary

First, she never answers the questions.

Second, she voted to go into Iraq.

Third, last week she proposed a bill for us taxpayers to pay for a memorial to Woodstock.

Fourth, she says she can fix the deficit, but what she does not tell you is that she will do it by not renewing the Bush tax cuts and credits that expire in 2010. All the dems our counting on these billions of easy money.

5 through 500 will come later....

Stop Thinking Horizontally

As I talk with people, they routinely ask what Huckabee is all about. Well, if you have not read his book, I'd like to offer up a summary for you:

Mike Huckabee is a conservative, pro-life, pro-family evangelical who believes in God, lower taxes, less government, personal empowerment, personal ownership and personal responsibility. He believes in the unlimited potential of the human spirit, a strong defense, and a government that allows the marketplace to regulate itself as much as possible to enhance free enterprise.

His philosophy is simple...we need to take God more seriously and ourselves less seriously.

Great Quotes from Mike

We ought not to see things like the world does because most of you, probably like me, grew up being tutored in Sunday school. And I don’t know about you, but I never outgrew some of that. I don’t guess I outgrew any of it. You see, I was led to believe that it was a lot better to be with David — that little shepherd boy with five smooth stones– than it was with Goliath with all his heavy armor. I was thought that it was better to be Daniel than it was a whole den full of lions because Daniel would come out better off then those lions. It went to sleep before it was all over. I was taught that it was better to be one of the three Hebrew children than it was to be the fiery flames of the furnace, because with God’s power those flames couldn’t even leave the smell of smoke on the lives and the clothes of those three Hebrew children.

I was taught to believe that it was better to be Elijah with an altar that had been soaked not once, not twice, but three times with water than it was to be 850 prophets of Ba’al screaming and yelling all day long for the fire to fall on Mount Carmel. I was led to believe that we serve a God who stood in the middle of a boat in the Sea of Galilee in the midst of a storm and said for the storm to stop and it did, or a Jesus who took mud and put it in the eyes of a blind man and he could see again. And one who could take two little fish and five biscuits and feed a crowd of 5,000 people and have enough leftovers that it would make the disciples realize that there was never an end to the supply of what our God could do when our people had faith — a savior who in fact could even go to the tomb of a dead man named Lazarus, so dead that the Scripture says he already was stinking — that’s pretty blunt, folks — (laughter) — and he made him live again.

I don’t want ever for us to let expediency or electability replace our principles as the new value. The new value needs to be the old value. We believe in some things. We stand by those things. We live or die by those things.

Mike is that Man!

Part of our backward culture is reflected in the fact that we measure and value people by what they do, instead of first who they are. As a result, we nominate charisma, cast votes for articulation and repeatedly elect too many paper-thin corrupt politicians. Of course, we want a president who gets things done, but first we want one who has lived a life of integrity, commitment, truthfulness and respect. Mike is that man.

Mike hasn't lived an isolated, out-of-touch life like so many politicians. He was raised in Hope, Ark., with a dad who was a firefighter and always had a second job. Mike and his sister grew up poor, not privileged. He was the first person in his family to graduate from high school. And he worked two jobs in college and graduated in two-and-a-half years. He is an outdoorsman too – an avid fisherman, hunter and a long-term member of the NRA

Sanctity of Life

I find it very "real" that when the topic of abortion comes up, Mike speaks to the Sanctity of Life for all people of all ages. The "I'm against abortion" rhetoric that I hear from some so-called social conservatives drives me crazy. In his book, From Hope to Higher Ground, he explains that the issue is much more than the government can ever possibly affect. The real change has to come from us, through our responsible socialization of our children. The challenge is upon us to change the American culture and attitudes on this very important topic.

Washington Briefing

This event was amazing. I find it very difficult to understand how any person with a social conservative position would not be 100% on board with Mike Huckabee. He nails all the issues and certainly wowed those attending the briefing.
